Just a few days before this piece was written, Bitcoin’s first upgrade in four years went live. Marking a rare and important moment for stakeholders and aspiring investors, this evolution in the saga of cryptocurrency means something. The upgrade is known as Taproot, and it’s said to open up a lot of ways for entrepreneurs to expand how they use Bitcoin.
Elaborating, this piece from CNBC notes, “Unlike Bitcoin’s 2017 upgrade — referred to as the “last civil war” because of the contentious ideological divide separating adherents — Taproot has near-universal support, in part because these changes involve fairly incremental improvements to the code.”
In the tumultuous history of Bitcoin and cryptocurrency, those who are on the fence in regards to investing tend to fall into one of two camps. The first camp feels like they’re just never going to trust something as radical and different as cryptocurrency, even though it does make sense in an ideological sense. The second is interesting, but after seeing a major spike or dip feels like they missed out, or the time isn’t right, or some other made-up excuse.
The truth is, the technology behind cryptocurrency is still relatively young, and it is growing and advancing every single day. Big upgrades like Taproot show that now is as good a time as any to begin learning how crypto works, what investing in Bitcoin means and looks like, and other ways that this world can help improve yours.
